Message: DESCALING NEEDED, PRESS OK TO START (~45 MIN)

Press "OK" to start descaling, or "ESC" to descale later.
Possible cause:
The coffee machine must be descaled.

Important!
Before use, read the instructions and the labelling on the descaler pack.
• You should use De’Longhi descaler only. Using unsuitable descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may result in faults not covered by the manufacturer's guarantee.

Empty the water tank completely & remove the water softener filter if present
Press "NEXT". "ADD DE'LONGHI DESCALER (LEVEL A) AND WATER UP TO LEVEL B" is displayed.

Pour the descaler into the tank & add water
Pour the descaler into the tank up to the level A (equal to one 100ml packet) marked on the back of the tank. Add water (1 litre) up to level B. Press "NEXT". "EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER AND DRIP TRAY" is displayed.

Remove, empty and put back the drip tray and grounds container
Press "NEXT". "PLACE 2L CONTAINER UNDER SPOUTS PRESS OK TO START DESCALING" is displayed.

Place an empty container with a minimum capacity of 2 litres under the hot water/steam spout and coffee spouts

Danger of scalding!
Hot water containing acid is delivered from the cappuccino maker. Avoid contact with splashes of water.

Press "OK" to confirm that you've added the descaling solution
"DESCALING UNDERWAY, PLEASE WAIT" is displayed. The descale programme starts and the descaler liquid comes out of the hot water/steam and coffee spouts. A series of rinses and pauses are performed automatically to remove all the scale residues inside the coffee machine. After about 25 minutes, descaling stops.
"RINSE AND FILL WATER TANK UP TO MAX LEVEL" is displayed.

Empty the container used to collect the descaler solution

Extract the water tank
Empty, rinse under running water, fill with fresh water up to the max level and put back in the appliance.
"PLACE 2L CONTAINER UNDER SPOUTS PRESS OK TO START" is displayed.

Place the container used to collect the descaler solution empty under the coffee spouts and hot water/ steam spout
Press "OK". Hot water is delivered first from the coffee spouts, then from the hot water/steam spout and "RINSING UNDERWAY, please wait" is displayed.

When the water in the tank has run out, empty the container used to collect the rinsing water
(If the filter is installed) "INSERT FILTER INTO ITS HOUSING" is displayed. Press "NEXT" and extract the water tank. Put back the water filter if removed (if removed previously).
"RINSE AND FILL WITH WATER UP THE MAX LEVEL" is displayed.

Fill the tank up to the MAX level with fresh water
"INSERT WATER TANK" is displayed.

Put the water tank back
"PLACE 2l CONTAINER UNDER SPOUTS PRESS OK TO START RINSING" is displayed.

Place the container used to collect the descaler solution empty under the hot water/steam spout and press "OK"
Hot water is delivered from the hot water/steam spout and "RINSING UNDERWAY" is displayed.
At the end of the rinsing "EMPTY DRIP TRAY" is displayed.

Remove, empty and put back the drip tray and grounds container
Press "NEXT".
"DESCALE COMPLETE" is displayed.

Press "OK"
"FILL TANK WITH FRESH WATER" is displayed.

Fill the water tank
Fill the water tank with fresh water up to the max level and put back into the coffee machine. Descaling is now complete.
