Turn the machine on
Important:
Descaler contains acids which may irritate the skin and eyes. It is vital to respect the manufacturer’s safety warnings given on the descaler pack and the warnings relating to the procedure to follow in the event of contact with the skin and eyes.
You should use De’Longhi descaler only. Using unsuitable descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may result in faults not covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee.

Press the MENU/ESC (B12) button to enter the menu

Press < or > until “Descale” is displayed

Select by pressing the OK button
"Confirm?" is displayed.

Confirm by pressing the OK button
“EMPTY THE DRIP TRAY” is displayed, alternating with “REMOVE FILTER” (if the filter is featured) and “ADD DESCALER, PRESS OK”.

Empty the water tank completely and remove the water softener filter (if present)

Empty the drip tray and grounds container
Then put them back in the appliance.

Pour the descaler into the tank up to level A marked on the back of the tank
Level A corresponds to a 100 ml pack.

Add water (1 litre) up to level B

Put the water tank back

Place an empty container with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres under the hot water spout

Press the OK button to confirm that you have added the solution
Important! Danger of burns
Hot water containing acid flows out of the hot water spout. Avoid contact with splashes of water.
The descale programme automatically performs a series of rinses and pauses to remove limescale deposits from inside the machine.
“Descale underway” is displayed.
The descale programme starts, and descaler comes out of the water spout.

Wait for the descale programme to finish
After about 30 minutes, the message “RINSING, INSERT FILTER” (if removed previously) is displayed, alternating with “FILL TANK”.
The appliance is now ready for rinsing through with clean water.

Rinse and refill the water tank

Extract the water tank.

Empty the water tank.

Rinse under running water.

Fill with clean water up to the MAX level.

Insert the filter (if removed previously).

Put the water tank back into the machine.
RINSING, Press OK “ is displayed.

Empty the container used to collect the descaler solution and replace it empty under the hot water spout

Press the OK button to start rinsing
Hot water flows out of the spout and the message “RINSING, Please wait” is displayed.
When the water tank is completely empty, the message “Rinsing complete, Press OK” is displayed.

Press the OK button
“Heating up Please wait” is displayed, at the end of which the machine will be ready for use.
