Descale the machine
Possible cause:
The machine must be descaled.

Follow the step-by-step guide:

IMPORTANT
Before use, read the instructions and the labelling on the descaler pack.
You should use De'Longhi descaler only. Using unsuitable descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may result in faults not covered by the manufacturer's guarantee.

Please note:
1.
Use descaler recommended by De’Longhi only. Failure to descale the appliance as described above also invalidates the guarantee.
2.
If the descaling cycle is not completed correctly (e.g. no electricity) it is recommended to repeat the cycle.

After descaling, it is normal for the grounds container to contain water.

Press the POWER button to turn the machine on

Press the MENU button

Press B4 or B5 until "Descale" is displayed

Select by pressing OK
The message "Descale Confirm?" appears on the display. Press OK again to enable the function . "Add Descaler Confirm?" appears on the display.

Extract and empty the drip tray and grounds container
Then put both back in the coffee machine.

Empty the water tank completely & remove the water softener filter if present

Pour the descaler into the tank & add water
Pour the descaler into the tank up to the level A (equal to one 100ml packet) marked on the back of the tank. Add water (1 litre) up to level B. Then put the water tank back into the coffee machine.

Place an empty container with a minimum capacity of 1.8 litres under the hot water spout and coffee spouts

Danger of scalding!
Hot water containing acid is delivered from the hot water spouts and coffee spouts. Avoid contact with splashes of this solution.

Press OK to confirm that the solution has been introduced
"Descale underway" appears on the display. The descale programme starts and the descaler liquid comes out of the water spout and coffee spouts. A series of rinses and pauses is performed automatically to remove all the scale residue inside the coffee machine.
After about 25 minutes descaling stops and the message "Rinsing, FILL TANK" appears on the display. The coffee machine is now ready for rinsing through with clean water.

Remove the water tank, empty, rinse under running water, fill with clean water and but back into the coffee machine
The message "Rinsing Confirm?" appears on the display.

Place the container used to collect the descaler solution empty under the spouts

Press OK to confirm
Hot water is delivered first from the water spout
to continue and end with the coffee spouts. The message “Rinsing” appears on the display.
When the water tank is empty, the message "Rinsing FILL TANK" appears on the display.

Insert the filter in the tank (if present)

Fill the water tank
Fill the water tank to the MAX level with fresh water and put back in the coffee machine.
"Rinsing... Confirm?" appears on the display.

Place the container used to collect the rinsing water empty under the water spout and coffee spouts

Press OK to confirm
Hot water is delivered first from the water spout to continue and end with the coffee spouts. "Rinsing" appears on the display.
When the water tank is empty, "Rinsing FILL TANK" appears on the display.

Put back water filter (if previously present)

Fill the water tank
Fill the water tank to the MAX level with fresh water and put back in the coffee machine.
"Rinsing... Confirm?" appears on the display.

Place the container used to collect the rinsing water empty under the water spout and coffee spouts

Press OK to confirm
Hot water is delivered from the water spout.
When the process is complete, "Descale complete Confirm?" appears on the display.

Press OK again to confirm
"FILL TANK" appears on the display.

Top up the water tank with fresh water to the MAX level and put back in the coffee machine
Descaling is complete.
